Vertical Forest in Milan under construction
Great to see some of these future renderings I’ve been posting being realized in the physical world. Right now in Milan, this vertical forest is being constructed — a project that I’ve been following since they were just renderings. Designed by Stefano Boeri, Gianandrea Barreca, and Giovanni La Varra, the final project will host 900 trees on 8,900 square meters of terraces as part of a “rehabilitation” of the historic district of Milan.
Plus, fun fact via UpWorthy, “the design was tested in a wind tunnel to ensure the trees would not topple from gusts of wind.” Wow. Needless to say, I’m lookin’ forward to the completion of this one. Green architecture on another level! More about the vertical forest can be seen in the video below.
