Atmosphere Live @ Aragon [Photo Recap]

I’ve seen Atmosphere a few times. There was that show in Iowa City with just Slug and Ant – they played all, and I mean all the classic joints. Another time they had a whole band on stage, where it was though you’d have to ask a younger me. And then there was that show in Madison, so intimate I felt the presence of angles at times standing around me… may have been Halloween, then again maybe not. But no matter when, where, or with who, Atmosphere has always brought the vibes. Couple turntables, an emcee who sounds the same live if not better as he does on vinyl, proper lights, thousands of ready bodies and Saturday night was a big fucking house party at Aragon. Performing for a full two hours, Atmosphere didn’t once turn down the heat. They played some goodies (“God Loves Ugly,” “Reflections,” “Tattoo Hands,” Guns and Cigarettes”) while mixin in some new off their latest, Southsiders.  And with Turkey Day around the corner, it was kinda nice having some of the finest representatives of the Midwest usher us into Winter.
