Jackie Robinson West: U.S. Champs

A big congrats to the baseball team sweeping the hearts of our city! Nope, it’s not the Sox, and hell naw, it’s not the Cubs (and I’m a die-hard Cubs fan). It’s…

The U.S. Little League World Series Champions: Jackie Robinson West!

Earlier today, JRW came from behind in the bottom frame of the 5th inning, tying the game before going ahead by 2 runs entering the final inning. Just like that, our Chicago hopeful went from nail-biting to 3 outs away from the title and a berth to win the entire Little League World Series versus international champ South Korea tomorrow.

And as I tweeted at the time, Chicago got this because Las Vegas was already in Adam Morrison mode (where’s my ’06 college basketball fans at?). The top of the 6th was not without its drama though. Vegas had 2 guys on base with only 1 out, but as I stated to my homie Phil at the time — this will fittingly end with a double play. Almost on cue, a hard groundball is fielded cleanly by the pitcher, who spun around in fluid fundamental form to start the 1-6-3, thrilling Championship-clinching double play. How sweet it is!
