Beyoncé Covers Out Magazine

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter truly runs the world.

The superstar graced Out Magazine with an instantly iconic cover and an interview that provided an in-depth look at her recent exploration of sexuality in her music. Beyoncé’s last self-titled LP, which shut the industry down when it was released out of nowhere, stirred much controversy for the album’s racey, risque & sexual lyrics & undertones. She addressed naysayers’ opinions in regards to the controversy:

I’d like to believe that my music opened up that conversation. There is unbelievable power in ownership, and women should own their sexuality. There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free and women are not. That is crazy. The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that. You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist—whatever you want to be—and still be a sexual being. It’s not mutually exclusive.

With her recent success and accompanied hard work, I think people should lay off Bey. She’s expressing herself how she feels in the context of her lifelong relationship with Jay-Z. She’s a married woman with a child, not a robot.
