Jeremih f/ Flo Rida “Tonight Belongs To U!”
To be honest, I cringed when I saw Flo Rida was featured.
Here we go with a formulated pop dance track for Jeremih, who I think a lot of people agree shines brightest as a straight R&B singer.
Lately, he’s killed some hooks but it has all had an urban edge. “Tonight Belongs To U!” is his first grand entrance into the pop/dance route and… well, it definitely works. This has #1 potential written all over it and I can’t ignore how infectious and well-produced the dance production is with Jeremih’s booming vocals on top. Shouts to Jeremih’s longtime collaborator Mick Schultz for another one.
Fortunately as well, it’s Jeremih on a catchy chorus and Flo Rida doesn’t appear until the 2:30 mark for his guest verse. And to even anyone who is usually annoyed with Flo Rida (I think you can tell by now I’m in that group), I also admit that this sound is perfect for him and he delivers a fast flow and verse that by no means detracts from this song. I’m a fan and as a skeptical listener going into it, I was ready to press play again after first listen. That should tell you a lot so do the same and give it a shot below.
Off the oft-oft-oft delayed sophomore album, Late Nights 2.
