Premiere: Musa Reems “Not With Gang” + Freestyle
This one is for the day one folk as Musa Reems embarks to fulfill a goal years in the making as he prepares to drop his first solo project. For those not familiar with Musa, he is the anchor, and lyrical genius behind one of Chicago’s most promising Hip-Hop trios, Children of ILLIOS (Musa Reems, Kairo Jones, LUMO). Musa’s first single “Not With Gang”, set to the braggadocios production by Nversive, is an ode of respect to everyone that has stood behind Musa’s moves as an artist. His forthcoming project “Where The Sun Never Rises” is going to be a project that turns heads, make sure you circle that date on your calendar. More on the release below:
I have always had a vision to do solo work in a creative space. Five years ago, I wouldn’t have expected that my passion would be creating sound waves that influence others, but over the past few years I have been gifted with an abundance of artistic inspiration. The support that I have received has not only pushed me to strive higher, but helped me realize who I am as a person. Because of this, my first solo track, “Not With Gang”, is dedicated to the genuine people who are family to me. They are “gang”. This is also the first single from my upcoming solo project, Where The Sun Never Rises.
“Not With Gang”, was produced by Aurora, Illinois producer, NversivE. It was recorded at Soundscape Studios and mixed by Jabari Rayford. Also, the track was mastered by Collin Jordan at the Boiler Room. The artwork for the song was created by Leo Lilliard.
ALSO: Earlier today I had Musa on my radio show The 5th Element on Radio DePaul. This is the freestyle video. Kid goes in on a Dilla, Kendrick/Cole, Eric B, Amerie, and UGK/Outkast instrumentals.
