(20 years later…) Here goes the new music video for Nas’ “Represent” off the debut album, Illmatic.
Ha! Already, I love the throwback choice and the concept plays out even greater — the black and white video is presented and inspired by the 1924 silent film The Thief of Baghdad, of which DJ Premier got the sample for the song. You have present-day Nas turning on the TV and seeing some 90s style slow-mo cuts of himself. How can ya not appreciate this one? Job well-done by contest winner Brian Katz for the official video. Yesterday, the BTS dropped along with the announcement and thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long for this gem above. After all, the concept and execution was about as big of a home run as Giancarlo Stanton’s last night.
