Yesterday, the Drake vs. Lil Wayne Tour began in New York and as the concept was detailed leading up to it, we get the details that it seems well-executed. The tour was indeed done in a “battle format”, with the added bonus that fans could vote on what song is played next with the tour’s official app.
The openers for each: Wayne started with “Blunt Blowin”, Drake, a few songs after, started with “Draft Day.” Alternating afterwards, Drake played into the friendly competition with, “We gotta let Lil Wayne know there’s just a couple of things Drake can do that he can’t,” before starting “Wu-Tang Forever.” Wayne’s next track was then “Duffle Bag Boy,” adding, “You was prolly still in that wheelchair when I was first making hits. The fans voted towards the end of the show on who wins — with Lil Wayne the 1st Show Champ.
Given the energy of the day starting with the release of “Grindin”, it was only right that the two also performed it for the first time, seen in the fan footage below. The perfect track to shut it down: “HYFR”. Chicago is one of the early dates on the tour, so after these details, I think it only adds to the hype for tomorrow.
