Big and well-deserved congrats goes out to Lecrae for his first ever #1 album! Anomaly sold 88,000 copies in its debut week — good for that Billboard 200 #1 spot and narrowly edging Maroon 5’s V, with 80,000 in its second week (a 51% decrease). Batting 3rd: Jhene Aiko’s debut album, Souled Out, selling a strong 70K and topping the R&B/Hip Hop Albums Chart. Jeezy’s Seen It All, having been released on September 2nd, sold 33K more copies this week, good for #6 overall.
Back to Lecrae, here’s perhaps the most impressive fun fact of his charting career:
“While Lecrae, 34, might not quite be a household name — he’s yet to chart a single on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 — he has sold 1.4 million albums and 2.9 million track downloads.” (via Billboard)
Wow, that definitely speaks to his loyal fanbase. Get caught up on Anomaly — it’s a dope album from beginning to end and in the running for my favorite hip hop LP of the year through September.
