Last week the news broke that this Chicago collab was in the works and just in time for their big game versus… the Sixers… the Bulls release the new 2014 remix of a top 10 song of the 90s — “Only The Bulls”.
As you can see and hear, Fall Out Boy & Lupe Fiasco blend their musical styles and hometown fandom seamlessly with Lupe providing not one, but two verses on this official Bulls-sanctioned remix. The first pays homage to the legends and current stars from Bob Love to Derrick Rose and Michael Jordan to Joakim Noah. Throughout, Lupe also pays homage to the Bulls fans and the Chicago culture so if you’re from here or you’re a Bulls fan, it’s hard not to puff your chest out about this. Plus, the new version has all of the nostalgia feels as, lowkey, Patrick Stump kills the hook that doesn’t stray too far from the original. The guitar throughout is more of an update, and on point as well.
Now, I look forward to the reported music video that some of the players were said to be a part of… or at the very least… a video of highlights from this year’s team set to this song, playing at the UC about 10 minutes before tip-off. For now, we’ll always have the Andres Noicioni Bulls mixed in with the Championship years in this original mix.
