NASA revealed plans to build a sustainable spacecraft to the atmosphere above Venus in an effort for humans to inhabit and study the planet. The spacecraft, acronymed HAVOC (High Altitude Venus Operational Concept) is meant to survive above the atmosphere for 30 days.
This is a bold endeavor, and certainly one that can pay off if executed properly. After all, humans haven’t come close to being that close to Venus given the planet’s average temperature of 800 degrees Fahrenheit. Take that, wintertime L.A.
