Lupe & Kweli defend rap against Complex

Yesterday, an article on Complex written by Angel Diaz called for “‘Real’ Rap Fans to stop Hating on WATTBA” and contained this passage, slighting Lupe Fiasco and Talib Kweli.

What exactly is that “real” shit then? Turn up music isn’t “real” hip-hop? How so? Was the genre not invented at a goddamn party? Isn’t music about having a good time? I’m dead tired of you cats, man. You make my head hurt. Can’t be listening to Talib Kweli rap off beat and Lupe Fiasco deep cuts at BBQs. I, too, was once like you, but come on, don’t nobody wanna hear that shit all the fucking time.

Both Lupe and Kweli naturally turned to Twitter to respond to this slight and wow… *nods head in agreement*

Talib Kweli follows up with more good points…

Lupe continued today, going back and forth with Complex head honcho Noah Callahan-Bever. They definitely know each other from past spotlights so it’s curious to see this playout.

Ugh @ Complex for this one too…
