Tribe to re-release debut album with new remixes

New remixes with Tribe?!

That’s all you gotta say right? Sign me up. Who of “today’s biggest hip hop artists” would you like to see on a Tribe remix? Kendrick, J. Cole are the two obvious choices. Obviously Lupe in a “Paris, Tokyo” vibe would be a fit. Who else?

Here’s the full details of the announcement, transcribed via Miss Info:

To commemorate its 25th anniversary, A Tribe Called Quest are re-releasing their landmark debut album, People’s Instinctive Travels & the Paths of Rhythm, complete with new remixes featuring “a few of today’s biggest hip-hop artists who have credited A Tribe Called Quest as a major creative influence,” according to a press release.

“I had this album in my head for years before I did it,” Q-Tip said in a statement. “Looking at it overall, to see the thoughts of a 16-year-old gain any kind of acknowledgement makes me feel like I have arrived … But to see it in this incarnation … I’m humbled.”

“This album means a lot,” added member Ali Shaheed Muhammad. “It was the beginning of our careers; the beginning of our imprint; the beginning of seeing life the way we saw it, and being able to put it down in words and music.”

The reissue has also been remastered by Bob Power, the engineer who worked with Tribe on their first three albums, as well as with D’Angelo and The Roots during the Soulquarians era. Although People’s Instinctive Travels actually celebrated its 25th birthday earlier this year on April 10, the reissue is set to drop on November 13.
