Will Smith stars in ‘Concussion’ (Trailer)

The movie that the NFL doesn’t want you to see.

Today’s first reveal trailer of Concussion stars Will Smith and already has the people talking this morning. Smith plays the part of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the man who discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and chronicles his journey to get through to the NFL to take precautions and provide the necessary attention to the disease. The drama will certainly be informative and should only spark further discussion about the NFL’s lack of attention towards concussions throughout this season. Should be interesting to see Goodell get questioned about this now, huh?

Zoolander 2 Trailer

I’m finally settled down for a moment this Lolla weekend to catch up on some new music along the way too (hit the homepage!) but I first had to shine some light on the new Zoolander 2 trailer that dropped over the weekend.

Honestly, the best first impression would be to see this in a line of previews at a movie theater because of how it starts off but the punchline still works. It’s pretty hilarious to hear from Derek Zoolander once again as we await how the plot shapes up. Watch the first teaser below.

N.W.A. Reunion Tour with Eminem in the works

Emphasis on “in the work”, but with the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton nearing release this summer, the follow up tour only makes more sense. And how about Eminem in the late Eazy-E’s spot. This would bring out rap fans old, new, whatever. Hope it happens, as teased in the new profile by Hollywood Reporter.

According to a new interview in THR, the studio wants to set up a European N.W.A. reunion tour with Dr. DreDJ YellaMC Ren, Ice Cube, and then add Eminem to the mix. The possible reunion tour has yet to be finalized with everyone’s busy schedules to deal with, but there is no doubt that this would create considerable buzz for the film. “We don’t have anything settled yet with everyone’s schedules,” Donna Langley from Universal told THR. “But we think it can create a lot of buzz.”

Both Eminem and Dre are set to appear on the film’s official soundtrack, which will be released around the time of the film and also include an appearance from Kendrick Lamar. Dre and Cube also talked about the Suge Knight situation in the THR interview, with each of them recalling the day the incident happened, though they weren’t sure if Knight showed up that day to cause trouble. “It’s just a really unfortunate incident,” Dre said. “Maybe [Knight] was looking for trouble. I don’t know.” You can read the full profile here

Common in Suicide Squad (First Look)

We’ve known now that Common is in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, but we still don’t know who he’ll play.

Today’s first look paparazzi pics of Common on the set give us an indication though. It won’t be the rumored character of Aquaman’s enemy, Black Manta, but THR suggests he’ll play Tattooed Man (believe it or not) based on the photos. Bronze Tiger is another speculated option.

Entourage Soundtrack revealed

Entourage has always been cash money to the fullest when it comes to music. They were ahead of their time in breaking artists just about to blow and throwing it back to some classics for the perfect soundtrack to a scene.

Probably my favorite was Ari Gold’s first ever legendary scene in Season 1 set to The Roots “Don’t Say Nuttin”.

Today, the soundtrack for the movie out in just a week on June 3rd, is revealed via FanDango and it’s accompanied by track-by-track commentary from the series’ long-time music supervisor and curator, Scott Vener.

There are some classics for sure, but I feel like it would have been complete with 1 or 2 all-new hip hop tracks made just specifically for the movie. Looks like we’ll be exposed to some other new artists though. Can’t wait for the movie, overall!

1. Royal Blood – “Figure It Out”

“This track has a ton of attitude and seemed like the right way to announce ‘the boys are back’!”

2. Jane’s Addiction – “Superhero”

“It’s the theme song – We can’t have an Entourage film without the theme!”

3. Diplo & DJ Snake – “Drop” (feat. Big Freedia)

“It’s Diplo & DJ Snake. Who’s making better party music than them right now? They’re on fire and it fits well with the lifestyle we wanted to portray for Vince and his friends.”

4. A-Trak – “Push” (feat. Andrew Wyatt)

“I’ve always loved this song and have been trying to find it a home for a long time. I’m glad it was in Entourage!”

5. Du Tonc – “Darkness”

“This has been one of my sleeper favorite songs in a while and it works PERFECT in the movie. Everyone needs to hear it and watch the video!”

6. Pharrell Williams – “Hunter”

“With a Pharrell cameo we needed a Pharrell song. This is one of my favorites of his last album.”

7. Mobb Deep feat. Big Noyd – “Give Up The Goods (Just Step)”

“Turtle always drives to the best hip-hop. This is some of the best hip-hop there is.”

8. Tha Dogg Pound – “What Would U Do?”

“Ari needed some attitude and there’s nothing kicks ass more than Tha Dogg Pound.”

9. Allison Taylor – “Bells”

“When Emily Ratajkowski drives Vince in her Ferrari it was only right that we played this beautiful song by a brand-new artist that is sure to make heads turn.”

10. Tame Impala – “Elephant”

“This song works to perfection. I have to give all the credit to the editor on this one.”

11. Jim Jones – “We Fly High”

“Ari kicking ass again… Needs no explanation.”

12. Noreaga – “Superthug”

“This is arguably one of the best beats Pharrell ever made. It was only right Ari got to be the ‘Superthug’ coming to get what’s his.”

13. The National – “I Need My Girl”

“We were trying to make you cry in this scene. The National knows how to do that perfectly.”

14. Mase – “Feel So Good”

“I’m not going to tell you who wins but when he does ‘It feels so good.'”

RZA to direct new ‘Spoken Word’ film

RZA’s newest film endeavor will involve more artists from the hip hop world and is directly connected to spoken word.

That’s because RZA is set to direct the film titled… wait for it… Spoken Word. Azealia Banks is set for the lead character, Coco, with Common and Jill Scott reportedly to star too. Here’s the premise, from the IMDB page. Sounding good!

Banks will play a fiery 20-something female rapper named Coco. Set in Brooklyn, the film documents her struggles in pursuing a career in hip-hop, while also attempting to fulfill her parent’s expectations of finishing college. Having returned to school, Coco soon discovers the vivid world and ultimate power of the spoken word, where she finds her one true voice and an unlikely love in the classroom.
