Tonight, history was made in our hometown of Chicago as our beloved Blackhawks hoisted the Cup at home for the first time since 1938. (And technically then, the Stanley Cup wasn’t even present to hoist, haha.)
I’ll update with more images of tonight’s celebration. Stay safe, Chicago!
For now, this makes 3 Stanley Cups in 6 years. Dynasty?! *nods head*
Tonight marked the first day of March… and in Chicago that meant more snow and freezing temperatures. In other words, perfect weather for an outdoor hockey game! (Hey, it didn’t deter 62,921 hockey fans at Soldier Field — marking the fourth-largest attendance in NHL history, per NHL PR.)
The very cool NHL Stadium Series continued at Soldier Field, home of the Bears, tonight as the defending Cup Champs played host to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Hawks skated to a commanding 5-1 win, highlighted by Jonathan Toews‘ Goal of the Year candidate below.
With the snow falling under the Soldier Field lights, I kept my eyes peeled to the Chicago Blackhawks Facebook page for some majestic photos. The gallery above features my favorites as the full photo album is well-worth a quick scroll-thru. Of course, I had to do the recap after my spotlight on the set-up in the Design section earlier this week. Go Hawks!
One last note about this damn weather… this tweet from The Bulls Show + one of my favorite GIFs this year sums it all up…
