Kanye chopped it up with Ryan Seacrest this morning for an extensive interview in the wake of his latest Grammys moment and ‘Ye cleared things up very well about what he was thinking and what he was trying to convey. You’ll hear him say it was a bad choice of words on his part when he said Beck should respect artistry. He further calls the Grammys a joke and also notes they’re musician’s Super Bowl. Plus, a great anecdote about Taylor Swift coming up to him immediately after the Beck incident and now they’re even talkin about getting in the studio.
“I felt that even though the Grammys some times gives awards to people who you wouldn’t think should win in the category, as a respect to artists, we mention the other artist’s name in our speech. And that was the point I was making about it. There’s like many of times I gave other people my award, literally made them come up onstage. Maroon 5, when they won best new artist, [Adam Levine] mentioned me because it was the College Dropout and [it had] 10 nominations and all that.”
More Grammys talk: ‘Ye wants to sit with the Grammys committee to discuss voting changes and won’t be back until he is able to do so. Nice, there’s a lesson to people to not just stop at acknowledging an issue but offering to propose a solution too.
For those who care more about the Yeezy Boost, first and foremost the shoe comes out Saturday. Kanye also apologized that everyone won’t be able to get them right away (9,000 will be available at $350) but does say that over time, everyone who will want Yeezys will have ’em and that’s what he’s all about. Phew! Lastly, Kanye will be streaming his adidas x Yeezy collection presentation to 40 worldwide locations and will have 10 presentations total so more people in Brooklyn and around the world can see the experience.
Listen up above for even more small tidbits on how “FourFiveSeconds” came together and more. Nice interview by ‘Ye.
