Drake “Views From The 6” Leak

04.28.16: Greetings! If you’re reading this, it’s too late: this was a song leak from 2014.

You’re probably looking for the album — get the link, all the info, and the Zane Lowe interview right here.

08.23.14: The leak of the weekend is none other than the title track of Drake‘s forthcoming album, Views From The 6. Let’s get right to it…

For those attuned to the leak, get in tune with this version above. Our hometown producer Mr. Music engineered the mix of the original leak — so this is literally the best quality version of Drake “Views From The 6” out right now.

UPDATE: Soundcloud or OVO is no fun and removed it quickly. Here’s the one remaining leak though…

As for the song itself, Drake’s verse is clearly about his rumored European beau and fellow superstar Rihanna. He even name-checks her two best friends.

You must remember waking up in Paris with the blunt. You must remember fucking me like anytime you want. What made us want to act like we were married for two weeks. Now we back in California we don’t even speak that a no no. Everyone say we look good on paper. You deserve the action. Plus you get more paper than I do. That shit attractive. Things that make me miss ya. Where Jen & Melissa? Tell the squad I said waddup girl.

Sooo they don’t speak in Cali… whatever. What a life, Drake. In all seriousness, I appreciate the insight into a famous relationship — one thing that’s constant about Drake is that he bares it all and doesn’t really give a fuck because it’s real emotions. Listeners hate on Drake for this very reason, but that’s why I’m a fan. He’s authentic, and this is the latest, highly-scaled piece of evidence.

Another version of Drake “Views From The 6” is out (the one working above) — a seemingly full version featuring an artist named “E Batt” on the second verse (40 producing, by the way). *googles E Batt* Listen to this below and vibe with the hook from Drake too (another highlight of “Views From The 6” too).

Drake “0 to 100 / Catch Up”

Drake surprises tonight with a new free release “0 to 100 / Catch Up” as he goes straight rap on the former of the double track and slows it down to mainly rap on “Catch Up”. Like his recent releases this year, it feels like Drake recorded this yesterday with recent references and rhymes that are topically current to his situation. A big theme of this double release is that he’s coming for that “greatest” title and he’s confident he’ll get it undisputed. It’s also got some universal gems such as this,

Know yourself, know your worth.

Additional drum programming by Noël

Drake also hints at his next album for Spring 2015. OVO, overall, is comin’ up in the next year…

We already got Spring 2015 poppin. PND dropping, RepsUp P dropping, Majid Jordan dropping, OB dropping, not to mention me dropping.

And shouts out Steph Curry…

I been Steph Curry with the shot, been cookin’ with the sauce, Chef Curry with the pot boy!

Drake “Days in the East”

Drake keeps the surprise new releases coming just hours ago in the middle of the night with “Days in the East”. He just previewed this slow jam in the U.K. on tour, but here it is in all its CDQ glory.

This has a similar vibe to songs like “Marvin’s Room”, but Drake mixes it up with some fast delivery that will appeal to fans of his raps. More raw, and real lyrics ensue as well and I can’t help but appreciate this one too. Produced by PARTYNEXTDOOR, co-produced by 40. Listen/download below.

ICYMI: Drake “Draft Day”

Drake “Trophies” (prod. Hit-Boy)

As you’ll read in my thoughts below from earlier in the day, I waited for the above version to drop before passing judgment on the hotly hyped “Trophies”. I was skeptical based on the previews (or, basically, I wasn’t going gaga over it like seemingly everybody else), but now that the track has dropped properly, I’m vibing with it and ignoring the hype-created expectations. It’s a very solid track that finds Drake rapping and singing over a triumphant Hit-Boy production (co-proudced by Hagler & 40). There’s an “All of the Lights” parallel in its overall aesthetic and my two favorite highlights are the hook and the switch up in the beat. On top of it all, “Trophies” will certainly become a celebratory anthem for NYE, the upcoming NFL playoffs (Drake’s new friend, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks), you name it. Tune in and be a part of the party.

12.29.13: There’s been a lot of hype around “Trophies” — a track Drake has cryptically previewed on Instagram and on his recently concluded Would You Like A Tour? The most we’ve heard is some fan footage from these tour stops and, well, the iPhone 5s doesn’t have the best quality to record high volume concert audio. I’ve avoided listening to this quality once I heard it, and didn’t quite get the hype in the first place over the previews. Tastemakers and fans alike are clammoring about this release and today it’s here…

This, however, is the LQ leak version — but it is the full version. The CDQ should be dropping today, but this version’s makin’ its rounds. Choose to play if you like, but since I held out this long, I might as well make my first listen the proper listen. Besides, Bears vs. Packers > Drake today, amirite?!
