New, unreleased ‘Keys from the ‘Girl on Fire’ sessions. This is also part of her 12 Days of Christmas series so stay tuned…
In light of the non-indictment in the Eric Garner case tonight (and Mike Brown recently), Alicia Keys releases an emotional new song “We Gotta Pray”.
In addition to Nicki in the previous post, Alicia Keys and Ariana Grande performed at the MTV EMAs in Glasgow, Scotland. Alicia did a lovely rendition of her new inspiring record “We Are Here” while Ariana launched into her mega-singles “Problem” & “Break Free”.
Once again, you may have seen a lack of updates on the site the past couple of days. We were undergoing some site updates even though we were still live and running. Now that we’re back live and running I got your roundup of Tuesday’s new content right here!
I actually thought it would be natural to start with the albums that were released today. I like all 3 of these artists and the albums of which I’ve previewed already — Jhene Aiko Souled Out, Lecrae Anomaly, and Banks Goddess are all in stores now! Be sure to listen and support, and then scroll below for more new videos, songs, and Monday’s Roundup as well!
I thought it appropriate to start with Pharrell’s appearance on CNN, talking about the Ferguson situation a few weeks past now. He thinks President Obama should come to Ferguson — do you agree? Sound off here, then see some more big names below: Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Common, Sam Smith & A$AP Rocky, and more.

You may have noticed the site has been stagnant for the last couple of days. We were in the midst of some site updates and couldn’t update you on the latest and greatest during the start of this second week of September. Never fear, here’s your rundown of just Monday’s new content below (Tuesday is linked below too.)
My favorite segment of the 3 — Gambino rocks a smooth freestyle over HS87’s buzzing summer single and confirms that Chance collab EP in the process. Jhene Aiko talks about Gambino himself amongst other topics including her debut album, Souled Out, (out now!). And finally, Raury does something different after a nearly 20 minute sit down with Hot 97 — an acoustic cover of Kanye’s “Blood on the Leaves”, in which he also adds a new verse of his own. Fresh. And it would only sound better in the studio, methinks.

Raury covers “Blood On The Leaves”, adds new verse, talks with Ebro In The Morning
**Note: I would also include the new Kanye West verse on the 1:30 preview of Theophilus London “Can’t Stop”, but the audio has been removed. You’ll hear it soon enough though — ‘Ye is exec. producing Theophilus London’s upcoming album, Vibes.

And oh yeah this happened…

It’s official… “It’s On Again” has grown on me to *Tibs Fav. status.
For whatever reason, the new motivational single by Alicia Keys & Kendrick Lamar (produced by Pharrell) didn’t quite resonate with me. It fell flat on first impression, and then the video came and increased my liking of it a little more… and now to see it performed live on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon… now, I’m vibing with it all the way.
Kendrick, like in the song, kicks off the song from the :01 mark and absolutely slayed the delivery of his fast-paced, tone-setting verse. I felt like the song took on another level live because of his performance really feeling like it set the tone.
What also jumped out at me about this performance was how Alicia sang the word “how” in her choruses. It was stirring and what stands her vocals apart from other similar songs in her catalogue. She did a nice job as well, further accompanied by Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr on guitar. Watch above, in case you were watching some NBA Playoffs instead tonight…
Yup, all three stars come together for their Spiderman 2 collab and now, new music video. Alicia, K. Dot, & Pharrell “It’s On Again” — a song where Alicia’s fast singing is continuing to grow on me, especially now with the video. I love all of the city shots from the movie that are spliced in with Pharrell at the control center (even clicking ‘Shut Down’ in Windows 2000). Keep an eye out for that after Kendrick kicks it off above.
