Aziz Ansari vs. the meat industry

Aziz Ansari uses his platform as a superstar stand-up comedian to spit some underreported knowledge of the meat industry — namely with cruelty to chickens as they’re producing the eggs we consume. He’ll detail it above… but the hip hop crossover??

Aziz somehow includes Ja Rule throughout. Everything about this is pretty on point.

Enjoy this new clip made public off Aziz’s new standup Live at Madison Square Garden special out now on Netflix. Been meaning to check this out, will definitely do so now.

Monday Roundup

You may have noticed the site has been stagnant for the last couple of days. We were in the midst of some site updates and couldn’t update you on the latest and greatest during the start of this second week of September. Never fear, here’s your rundown of just Monday’s new content below (Tuesday is linked below too.)

RADIO

My favorite segment of the 3 — Gambino rocks a smooth freestyle over HS87’s buzzing summer single and confirms that Chance collab EP in the process. Jhene Aiko talks about Gambino himself amongst other topics including her debut album, Souled Out, (out now!). And finally, Raury does something different after a nearly 20 minute sit down with Hot 97 — an acoustic cover of Kanye’s “Blood on the Leaves”, in which he also adds a new verse of his own. Fresh. And it would only sound better in the studio, methinks.

Parks & Rec in Chicago

Today, Parks & Rec was in town and it was honestly a little surreal to see two of the NBC comedy’s brightest stars Aziz Ansari & Chris Pratt in one iconic Chicago location after another. (Aziz did a pop-up standup show last night and Pratt threw out the first pitch and sang the 7th inning stretch at the Cubs game.) I was tracking the activity all day, since Parks is probably my favorite show on TV right now and everyone in the cast is superb, and you know, since it’s Chicago so here’s the lowdown on where Tom Haverford & Andy Dwyer were galavanting.

Shoutout to our longtime friend in the Chicago media biz, Luis Gomez of the Chicago Tribune on most of these below and Aziz himself for that great skyline lead photo…

The Ansaris and the Carters at Yeezus last weekend. When my mom asked for this photo, @Beyonce said “It would be an honor.” Amazing. Happy Bey Day. Also shout out to my parents who I love very much.

RZA’s audition for Parks & Rec

In 2009, RZA auditioned for the role of Leslie Knope on NBC’s present-day hit comedy series, Parks & Recreation.

…I just wanted to type that out so we can all read and re-read that sentence over and over again.

Funny Or Die uncovered the audition tape (which should clue you in on the seriousness of that first sentence) with Questlove humorously narrating the intro and outro. I dig RZA as an actor (his movies + Californication guest role) and Parks & Rec is my favorite comedy on TV right now. So, basically, I loved this. I won’t ruin it. If you landed here, you’re already pressing play anyway. And what a great way to start Friday.
