The hip hop on Late Night continues this week as this time The Roots are paired with Ludacris, who debuts “Grass Is Always Greener” off the upcoming album, Ludaversal. Bonus note: “Grass Is Always Greener” is produced by Chicago’s own Da Internz.
Mikkey Halsted and Da Internz?!
I’m in on that combo, with scratches by DJ ALO matching the raw rap aesthetic. Mikkey’s been supporting a lot of the young cats comin’ out the Chi but is inspired to drop a new project, Bulletproof Dreams, in the wake of Ferguson, Eric Garner, and many of these issues coming to the forefront. Get a sense of this direction with “Web We Weave” below.
A lonely Luda makes for an interesting new single as he raps on some emotions that perhaps we can all relate to. Helping out is the seldom-heard Miguel for a slow chorus that the ladies will surely enjoy and then an even better bridge to close things out. Chicago’s Da Internz have another hit production on their hands too and I think the masses will certainly enjoy. I do too. *Tibs Fav.
Off the upcoming EP, Burning Bridges, impacting in December.

All the free #LudaVerses have been building up to a new #LudaSingle. And for what’s likely the lead single to his upcoming album, Ludacris linked with Miguel and hometown hit producers Da Internz for “Good Lovin”. You can hear the smooth vibes below in a couple of Instagram previews Luda dropped today. Full version surely coming soon.
BJ The Chicago Kid is living up to his name as of late, isn’t he? Last week, he dropped a fresh remix of Kanye West’s “Hold My Liquor”, and for this week’s release he links with Chicago producers Da Internz for the bedroom R&B single “Good Karma”. I love what Da Internz did for the verses and BJ does the beat justice with nice vocals and lyricism. An easy *Tibs Fav. for your R&B roto.
Big Sean hinted at new music to drop today after officially signing with Roc Nation last night and he surprises with not one, but four new songs below..!
E-40 is the lone feature (and he kills it) as production comes from some heavy hitters like… DJ Mustard & Kanye West co-producing “I Don’t Fuck With You” (with DJ Dahi). You can tell who produced what parts of that song, ha. MikeWillMadeIt and Chicago’s Da Internz and Nate Fox also assist in the whole set below. His most lyrical one is “4th Quarter” that gets better as it goes. The other records are more on the feel good party/club vibe that may suit your style too.
Oh, and the “you” in “I Don’t Fuck With You”: probably Naya Rivera.
On cue, Nicki Minaj drops her new video for “Anaconda” alongside her fellow YMCMB superstar Drake. The latter appears in an end lap-dance scene that… well, you’re already pressing play to see Nicki.
Expect a high uptick in GIFs on the interwebs after this one.
Here’s a Nicki one that you may not expect here… because it’s still so hilarious…
