03.08.14: As a fan of Chipotle and Frank Ocean, it makes me feel some type of way to see this news. Reports TMZ:
Chipotle claims Frank never recorded the track because when they showed him the final cut … Frank was pissed the company’s logo appeared at the end of the spot.
To reiterate … he was mad Chipotle’s logo was in a Chipotle advertisement.
The restaurant says it got an email from Frank’s people claiming Frank thought he was promised final say over the recording and all promotional materials — and believed the company was in breach when it refused to remove its logo.
Chipotle is suing to get back the $212,500 advance it paid Ocean.
Frank Ocean, now a Qdoba fan.
UPDATE: Frank Ocean responded to Chipotle today…
…with a big FUCK OFF in the memo line of his reimbursement check. He also included a link to Defamation on his tumblr to accompany this post. Damn.
ICYMI: Frank Ocean, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon “Hero” (prod. Diplo)
Here is how I want to see Frank Ocean in the headlines. Not when my favorite food joint sues him… for new music!
Frank Ocean takes part in Converse’s “Three Artists, One Song” series, which ironically sees him collab with Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, and Diplo for a total of 4 artists. The latter produces it, but it’s not an uptempo cut that you would expect. It’s nice to hear Ocean’s voice after so long, but I wasn’t quick to eat up “Hero”. Listen/download below.
The full lineup is above and you’ll keep locating one name after the next — one artist you’ll want to see after another. Kanye West is the main hip hop headliner with many other notables including Frank Ocean, Wiz Khalifa, Lauryn Hill, Ice Cube, Chance The Rapper, and I can go on. Who are you most excited to see at Bonnaroo?
