Not sure how I missed this when The Weeknd performed the other night, but Bill Murray was also the primary guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Austin for SXSW. One of mine and yours all time favorite comedians didn’t disappoint and the hip hop crossover comes with a brief, yet hilarious tale about working with Rick Ross. Yup, Bill Murray working with Rick Ross. And in the process, Murray lowkey sheds some light on a common (and weak) happening for collaborations.
Below, plenty more clips from Bill Murray’s sit-down with Kimmel. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention his outfit. There’s that. Ha! Plus, I didn’t realize this until now… but damn, looks like Kanye cancelled all his SXSW gigs, the only one confirmed was Kimmel, but no appearances by Ye in Austin this year. Dah well.
Common was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and sat down for a fun interview that talked Oprah and Michael Jordan.
Oprah of course because Common left her hanging at the Oscars in the most hilarious moment of the night (en route to his win with John Legend for “Glory”.)
Common saves face by explaining what he was thinking to Kimmel below.
He also recalls the well-known tale of being a ball boy for Michael Jordan, but Common adds a new story from those times too.
And finally, he was also on Jimmy Kimmel to promote his new movie — the first time I’m hearing about this, might I add — Run All Night with Liam Neeson and Ed Harris. Common will play an assassin contracted by Ed Harris’ character to find and kill Liam Neeson. You can see an exclusive clip of Common’s role at the end of the video above, which reveals Common doesn’t have great negotiating skills, ha! The full trailer is below. I’m in on this one. Liam Neeson and a movie-long chase scene? How can you not be?
Will Smith’s talk show tour continues with “Summertime” on Jimmy Kimmel last night. Enjoy the throwback vibes above as Will continues to hint at making music again as part of his sit-down below. DJ Jazzy Jeff even gets in on the fun, asking Will a question himself. Peruse and see.
I was waiting for Jimmy Kimmel Live’s new #MashupMonday series to involve a rapper and this was about as great and unforeseen choice and combo that I could have imagined.
Kimmel teamed up Warren G with saxophonist Kenny G for a rendition of “Regulate”. This means that Kenny G dazzles with his soprano sax over Nate Dogg’s smooth hook. The smoothness of the song in general, performed well by Warren G too, is very adaptable for the sax and I was honestly grooving in my seat watching this. The awesomeness of this needs no more words… so just watch above.
Kimmel was on fire the whole night actually as Kobe Bryant was a guest and his reaction to the viral Lakers post-game interview the other night after beating the Celtics was absolutely absolutely priceless. (that’s right, 2 absolutely’s.)
And actually, the whole show is pretty much going up here. Chrissy Teigen was the other guest and she has a magic trick. Then, Guillermo at the Oscars was probably the best red carpet interviews I’ve ever seen, ha!
