The big-time looks for Don C and his Just Don cap conglomerate continue to add up. Sitting down with GQ’s Will Welch at the site of one of the exclusive homes of Just Don — Barney’s New York — we get to hear from Don C himself on the brand as well as his tips on how to rock the lid.
Most interestingly is the full story of Don C’s original inspiration for the snakeskin caps: 80’s Chicago drug dealers. Ha! It’s a great story of where these caps derived from and an important one for our youthful creatives to understand too. I love seeing the Just Don caps everywhere and man, if I just had the bank, the collection would be in the double digits for sure. Enjoy the 3-part video series — all quick-hit videos that were fun to watch.
To close out Black History Month, Nike has one more release up their sleeves and it’s with frequent collaborator Don C.
This all-new Don C x Air Jordan I collab is going to a good cause — being sold in an eBay Charity Auction all week. The auction goes live an hour from posting time and the winning bid will benefit the Ever Higher Fund, which unlocks “the potential of underserved youth by supporting charitable initiative that leverage the power of sport.”
Look fresh and help the youth? That’s a winning combination. If you’ve got the money to drop, head on over to justjordanbhm.com for all the details and to bid. #Salute to Don C, continuing to inspire all Chicago designers.
It’s not often that I put together a fashion spotlight but when BAPE & RSVP Gallery combine for the 2nd time in 3 years for a new collection, I had to queue up a post.
Camo is a clear theme in BAPE & RSVP’s gear — everything from tees, to hoodies, to shorts for the springtime. My favorite piece of the collection is Milo snoozing on the RSVP logo. Need that in both white and black.
The gem of the collection may just be the hats — a collab with Just Don as they bring back an old ‘A Bathing Ape’ text design on the hat.
Don C’s luxury, leather headwear is now translating to Js — namely with this new Just Don x Air Jordan 2 collab, cleanly detailed in the gallery above.
Leather on your Js may feel like a lil much, but it definitely works all the same. The blue really pops, as do the details. My favorite being the Beaverton – Italy – Chicago patch, indicating that these Jordans follow the originals in being made with Italian leather in Italy.
To cop ’em, hold your breath til January 31st, the current rumored release date.
Seen via the NBA’s own Facebook page is this fresh new video recap of the launch of Just Don & Been Trill‘s new collab with the NBA & Mitchell & Ness. The new hats feature Been Trill’s signature hashtags with a ‘Photoshop Mirror’ spin on vintage logos of some of the NBA’s most signature franchises. I appreciate the consistency of Just Don and the fresh twist on vintage NBA hats. The one hat of the many seen in the video that I really want: that 1991 Bulls Championship hat. Whoo! I remember that one #Classic.
As for the video itself, it’s an excellent production that shows the swanky outdoor/indoor setting, the newspaper backdrop, clean hat displays, and of course some VIPs in attendance. Spotted were Russell Simmons, Vashtie, Stalley, and Don C himself. It’s also accompanied by a hot beat that I tried Shazamming to no avail. It must not be released but if it is, educate the uninformed!
Hometown readers, if you can pony up the cash to rock the leader in luxury sports hats, you already know where to go…
