Lili K ‘RUBY’ (Album Stream)

UPDATERuby now up on Spotify. Hit up the stream and the new featurette with TIDAL below too.

***

As part of TIDAL’s aim to give shine to the independent music scene, they will have various interview spotlights and exclusive pre-streams of these buzzing, up coming artists. The first one I’ve seen is none other than Chicago based singer Lili K, whom you should know by now around these parts.

She’s ready to deliver RUBY on Tuesday but lets TIDAL subscribers get the first full listen. With it comes a great new interview too, where she lets people in on how she started working with Chance, Vic Mensa, and Peter CottonTale, while of course sharing some insight into the project.

Listen and read the interview here.

“I view RUBY as my official introduction to the music world. It’s my baby. I have an amazing band by my side, and I’m so happy to be sharing this experience with a group of people who I truly feel are family. Recording with them, performing with them – it’s just a giant love fest, which I believe is evident in our music. After doing lots of featured spots and working within other genres, this album is ‘home’ for me.”

Also catch Lili and her band this Tuesday for the album release at the downtown Apple Store. (I like how the Apple Store is reaching out to cultured Chicago artists for in-stores. Great crossover. Last week, J. Ivy, next week Lili K.)

Lili K “I Don’t Want You No More”

Chicago singer Lili K is back with a funky, throwback new groove “I Don’t Want You No More” — premiered with the music video above and as the first preview to her debut alubm, RUBY.

Emphasis on funky and throwback. Feels like this jam should be played in a hip lounge or even better a 50s style diner. The black and white aesthetic and Lili and her band are the perfect match for the visuals which contain other subtle additions throughout too. Love the guitar solo ending as well. Lili and Peter CottonTale co-wrote “I Don’t Want You No More” so give it a press of the play button above.

RUBY out April 21st.

Chance The Rapper Full Lollapalooza Set

Chance made some noise this weekend, to say the least, as he closed down Lollapalooza as the hip hop headliner on Day 3, performing while the likes of Skrillex and Kings of Leon were in other areas of Grant Park. He brought out R. Kelly, Vic Mensa, and rocked a crowd said to be over 60,000 people. Now, you can relive or watch for the 1st time, Chance’s 75-minute set with his Social Experiment band. The familiar names are playing: Peter CottonTale, Donnie Trumpet, Lili K, and Eryn Allen Kane. Watch the Chance The Rapper Full Lollapalooza Set above and enjoy!

Lili K & Peter CottonTale “Highlight The Moon” LIVE

Two Chicago artists you need to know on the rise link up for this special live studio performance at Truth Studios — it’s Lili K on the vocals and Peter CottonTale on the keys for a song called “Highlight The Moon”. This is an easy add to any of your playlists (except your going out one, I guess) as Lili shines vocally and the live production pops as the perfect compliment. Watch and enjoy.

A-Villa “Smooth It Out” f/ Reks & Lili K

Chicago producer A-Villa continues to pick up momentum leading up to his project, Carry On Tradition. His latest release “Smooth It Out” features rapper Reks and songstress Lili K in addressing gun violence, an issue that has become important in addressing, and from the looks of the single’s cover, an issue that isn’t black & white, it’s live and well in full color.

Lili K & Harold Green “Lost”

Harold Green’s Flowers for the Living series is back, and today we get the first video featuring the beautiful voice of Lili K alongside the man himself Harold Green. In this video they cover “Lost” by Chance the Rapper and Noname Gypsy’s  from Acid Rap.

Running from February 1st-14th, the project features some of Chicago’s greatest artists covering fourteen love songs, with poet Harold Green adding his original poetry to each one.

Make sure to check out below all the details of the Flowers for the Living series
