NEW Logic as he spits some “current situation” rhymes over a clever and fresh flip of Common’s “GO!” by VMG producer 6ix. I quote “current situation” because Logic wrote these raps on the ongoing Verge Tour with Krewella, and describes some of the ever-changing elements of his career.
Adding to the slick raps is the aforementioned sample that 6ix includes that becomes a major element that Logic plays off of throughout the song. There’s an added raw hip hop vibe to the song on top of the smoothness of the original. Queue it up and you’ll hear the originality.
Logic shouts out Common as well, where if you recall or may have missed: Common was approving of the upcoming Logic album with these two not too long ago. I’m excited for the upcoming project, While You Wait, that will serve as an appetizer for the album later this year. Tune in below and click the links ICYMI.
Logic gets a guest verse from Big Sean for a track that’s actually more than “Alright”. Logic sets the tone with a break-neck flow and Big Sean matches the high speed with a very solid second verse. It’s a toss-up between Logic’s 1st and 3rd verse — both are nice. Which means, overall, this is a track to be fuckin’ with.
03.12.13: Via Logic himself on Facebook, short and sweet:
This should come to no surprise to anyone who attended the Cud Life Tour this past Fall. Logic and Sean were tourmates with Kid Cudi, as seen above, and Logic is prepping his Def Jam debut with No I.D. executive producing. Hey, why not give Cud a call and reunite the photo above? He’d probably sound great for the hook.
“While You Wait” is the perfect title for Logic‘s upcoming FreEP as his Ratt Pack is patiently waiting his Def Jam debut album. We all know how the business goes at this point, so I’m not shocked that the album isn’t out yet and am glad that Logic and the VMG team see that it’s time to put out some new music. They’re doing just that with this free project and the title track below is the 2nd nice preview in as many weeks.
Swiff D sets a soulful tone for the record, which is not usually Logic’s backdrop recently. Naturally, the versatile emcee adjusts and gets reflective about his anxiety and excitement to release the album and keep making music. Consequently, we get a clear look at what Logic’s really feeling at this point and he delivers the message well. I prefer the pump up stylings of last week’s “Now”, but “While You Wait” is a *Tibs Fav. too.
Logic returns with some all-new music and an announcement. “Now” will serve as the first offering off the upcoming FreEP, While You Wait. And sure enough, this record appropriately fits the title that refers to Logic’s upcoming Def Jam album.
It’s a reflection on the doubters who are now “fuckin’ wit me now” and calling them out in the process. I think we can all relate to that to some degree, amirite?! Logic’s signature fast flow and clear delivery are both superbly on display over a lethal production by 6ix, Arthur McArthur & Swiff D. I gotta hand it to 6ix especially, as all his recent beats have had an overall pump up tone, with “Now” amplified by a monumental break down that takes this song to another level.
As you can tell, an instant *Tibs Fav. that should kick off a consistent month of music this Spring, While You Wait, which is also the name of Logic’s new tour with VMG’s QuESt and Castro. Logic’s IG for the details.
