After much anticipation we finally get the debut project of Ikon. The “Private Stock” project is a 12 track project comprised of an eclectic mix of instrumentals and featuring phenomenal features from spoken word artists Malcolm London, Pivot Gang, Saba, MFN Melo, Navarro, Nick Astro, ASA’s Reelo & Spazz, Astonish, Jarred AG, Noname Gypsy, Trell Love, Murph Watkins, among many others. To fully comprehend what went into the creation of the project watch the visual below.
While Murph is still working on his up coming project YUN, he drops off this new freestyle video just to let the people know he’s still hard at work. “18 Below Freestyle” was shot by @MiguelCTV, and though short in length it still packs a punch that will surely stay with you. Be on the look out for more new content from Murph as YUN will be coming soon.
Dru B is one of my favorite new Chicago producers and he’s had a great start in 2014. November 9th marks a culmination of his work throughout the year, highlighted by fellow buzzing Chicago artists Taylor Bennett and Wheatie & Murph Watkins.
The 5-track tape also consists of the recently featured “Streets of Rage” by Carolina rapper SkyBlew and a track that flew under our radar until now: Aaron Johnson‘s “My Ego”. I included the music video for the latter — a smooth, lyrical and inspiring record and not the braggadocios record you may expect from just the song title.
Finally, Dru concludes the tape with a feel-good Summertime Chi beat that brings back the mood of happier times here in the Chi as we’re currently in the midst of some bitter cold winter weather, ha! Listen below and enjoy!
Who will believe in you if you don’t believe in yourself?
Just two weeks after releasing the very well received “Yun Woman” Murph Watkins is back with another new track “FWM” produced by 2008ighties Sani. With the release of Murph’s next project Yun coming in 2015, Murph is trying to make sure that you all know that special is in the works.
Today Murph Watkins drops his newest track “Yun Woman” produced by I.B. C.L.A.S.S.I.C. from his upcoming project Yun. Murph has wanted to show off his versatility with all of his recent singles, and this songs shows off yet another side to the talented up and coming Chicago rapper. Murph is still working on Yun and is hoping for an early 2015 release.
