It appears that Beyonce & Nicki Minaj‘s live performance version was simply too flawless that it also becomes the official music video for the single. Relive the two female superstars from On The Run: Paris above.
If you had nothing to do Saturday night, you were actually in luck. HBO aired their ‘On The Run’ tour documentary that featured the entire 2+ hour final show in Paris just last week. I jumped in a third of the way through and marveled at the show’s presentation, both by Bey & Jay themselves, their entire fashion and ensemble, and the editing by HBO (all the slow mo shots were sweet).
Below is an official full-length clip of the show’s finale — a mix of “Young Forever” and “Halo” set to a montage of home video style photos and clips of the two’s private life that will leave you with the warmest of hearts afterward. It was seriously perfect, so much so in fact that I was speechless as I live tweeted the show. Watch below, and in case you were out or want to relive the show again, it’s available in full on HBOGo.
I don’t have to say much if you’re on this page to press play on the new Beyoncé & Jay Z short film — except, well, here are some details. Bang Bang is a 3-part short film series directed by Dikayl Rimmasch with Pt. 1 above, Pt. 2 to premiere Tuesday at Nowness, and Pt. 3 to presumably premiere during the Carters’ HBO ‘On The Run’ concert doc on September 20th. Quick sidebar on the latter: scroll below the description of the series for the sentimental way Bey & Jay showed love for each other on their last On The Run Tour date in Paris this weekend. Alas, enjoy pt. 1 of Bang Bang above. ❤
Two American outlaws speed through the Californian desert in a dusty 1960s Pontiac GTO with a manifest poise and stylish swagger that could only be embodied by the world’s foremost musical couple: Beyoncé and Jay Z. Directed by the New York-based filmmaker and photographer Dikayl Rimmasch, Bang Bang is a trilogy of short films starring Mr and Mrs Carter’s filmic alter egos, appearing throughout their two-and-a-half month long tour, On the Run, which celebrated its finale on Saturday at Stade de France in Paris. Rimmasch was introduced to Beyoncé and Jay Z via Mark Romanek, and with a creative cohort in the war photojournalist William Kaner put together a filmmaking approach and aesthetic inspired by French new wave cinema and the powerful intimacy of legendary independent director and mentor, Les Blank. Rimmasch’s stripped-back process paid dividends, allowing an incredibly fast, shoot-from-the-hip style using custom camera rigs that he had designed, 50-year-old Russian lenses and lighting effects by Archie Ciotti and Scott Spencer. Below, we’re in conversation with the steadfast director—also known for his black-and-white campaigns for RRL by Ralph Lauren—about Bang Bang’s conception and what it’s like to direct contemporary music’s most iconic performers.
I’m your biggest fan. I love you so much. Give it up for Mr. Carter!
Above, Bey. Below, Jay. Below that, Bey killin’ “Holy Grail”.
I want to say it’s been an honor and a pleasure sharing the stage with you. I couldn’t dream for anything else to be in a stadium with the woman I love, who I believe is the greatest entertainer of our time. Make some noise for Beyonce!
Paris On The Run Tour goers were in for a treat last nite as Beyonce brought out a surprise guest — which alone doesn’t happen here in the U.S. Needless to say at this point, Nicki Minaj came out to perform “Flawless” and some fan footage below is able to capture the energy of the two female superstars on stage together. Yaaassss?
Jay & Bey hit HBO on September 20th as their Paris stop of the On The Run Tour has been documented and ready to show to the world. After a recent teaser, he’s a cool film noir trailer running a quick-hit 50 seconds above.
Airing September 20th, HBO is bringing you the On The Run Tour to your homes as their capture of the Paris stop of the Carters’ summer run is now teased in epic fashion above. Really cool, as you’d expect. The best of the best filming, as I saw throughout…
For our hometown readers, check out some official flicks of the Tour’s stop at Soldier Field from the other night — here.
Late last week, I posted the news that HBO is planning a September special on the Jay Z & Beyonce ‘On The Run’ Tour. Well, they’re quick on the promo for it by releasing this first, 30 second teaser trailer. Nothin’ special, but for fans of the Carters, this will definitely be worth tuning in.
