Chicago singer Lili K is back with a funky, throwback new groove “I Don’t Want You No More” — premiered with the music video above and as the first preview to her debut alubm, RUBY.
Emphasis on funky and throwback. Feels like this jam should be played in a hip lounge or even better a 50s style diner. The black and white aesthetic and Lili and her band are the perfect match for the visuals which contain other subtle additions throughout too. Love the guitar solo ending as well. Lili and Peter CottonTale co-wrote “I Don’t Want You No More” so give it a press of the play button above.
RUBY out April 21st.
More new Chance today as he and the Social Experiment (Donnie Trumpet, Peter CottonTale, and Nate Fox) cover the upcoming issue of The FADER.
The cover story accompanied it and it’s a pretty quality read that highlights the personalities of all 4 of them with the writer observing and following the crew around for a day in L.A. I came out of this appreciating Chance more for his focus on their collective when, as the article astutely points out, many artists put themselves on another level first before the rest of the crew.
The Social Experiment’s upcoming album, Surf, is still due soon and is what Chance calls in the story, “Donnie’s project.” Read it for more.

Here is the first offering of Surf — Chance and his Social Experiment collective’s new album supposed to drop before the end of the year. It’s called “Sunday Candy”, which has a couple new verses from Chance and features singer Jamila Woods. Donnie Trumpet is credited with the lead as he puts down a nice feel to the record with the help of Peter CottonTale & Nate Fox. Here’s what Donnie said to FADER:
This song specifically is a great representation of [The Social Experiment’s] collaborative efforts. It’s my curation, but then bringing it to the table with all these beautiful people and including them in their own way. Jamila sang on that hook, then I brought it to the collective. Peter added some great layers of texture and helped produce, Nate added a bunch of drums, tons of our friends from Chicago played instruments and added their ideas.

Nikki Jean’s Champagne Water EP arrives in full today — for free stream/download below!
Previews, like her collab with Ab-Soul, have surfaced in recent weeks and now we get the full 6-track opus that also contains contributions from Jake One, her consistent partner-in-crime Double-0, and Chance’s Social Experiment collective. It’s somethin’ fresh and different for longtime fans of Nikki with the same gripping vocals that made me a fan since her breakout days with Lupe. This only continues the strong week of new EP releases in the R&B realm, don’t overlook this one!
Chance made some noise this weekend, to say the least, as he closed down Lollapalooza as the hip hop headliner on Day 3, performing while the likes of Skrillex and Kings of Leon were in other areas of Grant Park. He brought out R. Kelly, Vic Mensa, and rocked a crowd said to be over 60,000 people. Now, you can relive or watch for the 1st time, Chance’s 75-minute set with his Social Experiment band. The familiar names are playing: Peter CottonTale, Donnie Trumpet, Lili K, and Eryn Allen Kane. Watch the Chance The Rapper Full Lollapalooza Set above and enjoy!
