I’m finding it hard to say much about Donald Glover’s latest masterpiece, the approximate 1-hour film co-starring Rihanna — Guava Island.
As you probably know by now this weekend, after a stellar headlining performance at Coachella, the mysterious, near-secret project Glover and Rihanna were evidently working on together last year in Cuba is now on Amazon Prime.
The thing is: it’s really better knowing the least about Guava Island as you can before watching it. I, for one, sort of messed up by catching a Reddit thread with the “unofficial soundtrack” and being unable to resist a bootleg-captured scene from the film with the two A-listers (and I’ll leave it at that.)
So alas: I won’t say anything other than it’s phenomenal, captivating, and repeating that Guava Island is a masterpiece. Props to Glover and his familiar cast of collaborators, director Hiro Murai, producer Ludwig Goransson, and choreographer Sherrie Silver.
For after viewing: read this Twitter thread that explores the connections between Guava Island and much of Glover’s other works. Definitely makes you think.
Rihanna’s second campaign with Dior went live on the bad gal’s ‘gram late last night and it’s a semi-NSFW see-thru ensemble that’s getting everyone’s attention below. (Hey, I’m randomly in a coffee shop now and had to scroll fast, ha!)
To me though, this one-piece with the dark red, navy blue, pink combo is magnificent. Love how the colors gel, the shapes, and how it even matches Ri-Ri’s hair. Gander at all the photos below.
Here’s the latest from PUMA’s creative director Rihanna as she stars in this new “Forever Bolder” campaign. Bold is a good way to describe Ri-Ri. Explore PUMA’s site though for some of Ri-Ri’s first picks and be on the lookout for this ad in real-life on a PUMA storefront. I would definitely stop in the middle of jam-packed Michigan Ave. if this caught my eye. Ha!
L.A. fans were in for a treat at last night’s FYF Fest as Kanye West headlined after a last-minute cancelation late last week by original headliner Frank Ocean.
Not only did they get Yeezus, but they also got Rihanna and Travi$ Scott. Rih-Rih’s appearance was seemingly impromptu too as I guess she was in the crowd (?) Whatever the details, check out some live (like hyped live) raw footage of hits on hits on hits.
Murder Rih Wrote is the title of Rihanna’s new collab with Stance Socks, the growing sock empire that just this week also dropped a collab with Kendrick Lamar. I just find the title fitting after the release of the BBHMM video earlier this month. You can view and purchase the limited edition (1500 quantity) release here.
