Ryan Leslie ‘MZRT’ (Artwork + Release Date)

Remember how R-Les debuted his album, MZRT, with a New Year’s Day performance at the top of the year. Well, perhaps only if you were amongst the lucky few to partake in the performance, but never fear because R-Les is prepping the album’s release for July 4th to share it beyond that experience for the rest of the world. Here’s his statement and the newly revealed, slick artwork above.

This is a preorder of MZRT (The Magnificently Zealous Renegade Takeover), the 6th studio album from Ryan Leslie featuring the singles ‘New New’, ‘Who Wears The Crown’, ‘No Prisoners’ and outside production from collaborators WondaGurl, !LLMind, No Genre, and members of the Black Phoenix Beat Club. This album was performed at the Shönburg Palace in Vienna, Austria on NYE 2015. I am currently mixing this album. The final album date has been moved to July 4. Independence day.

Ryan Leslie “New New” (prod. WondaGurl)

Great to see R-Les back with new (new) music. Above is the artwork for the upcoming album, MZRT (The Magnificently Zealous Renegade Takeover) — which will be Leslie’s 6th and below its first preview: “New New”. The album will feature Illmind, No Genre, Gabe Lambirth, Chef Byer and more, and, perhaps the most interesting part about this: the LP will be released and performed in its entirety at a palace in Vienna, Austria on January 1, 2015.

As for “New New”, production comes from the young phenom WondaGurl and sees R-Les out in Europe rhyming about the new luxuries in life. Great scenery and impressive aesthetics in this one, as Leslie directed the clip as well below. I’m intrigued to see the direction from here, which I hope will feature more of a mix between rapping and singing. We shall see as 2014 hits its last 3 months…
