Treated Crew’s Sulaiman is one of the most overlooked emcees and one of the hardest working and disciplined artists in the city. He doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone, his work illustrates his love and passion for Hip-Hop and does it with ease. With that being said we get Suli’s latest offering “The Mogs”, a project that wasn’t promoted and that we didn’t know that was dropping but it is out for the world to enjoy. It is a project that was recorded 2012-2013 and features the likes of Chance The Rapper, Caleb James, GLC, The GTW, Gzus Piece, Highlife, Mic Terror, Naledge, Paypa, Paul Scientific, and Vic Spencer.
The GTW is prepping his upcoming solo project, Chigeria, and it’s “Calling Cards” that reigns as its first smooth offering. I appreciate the high pitches and sentiment of the track’s concept, taking me back to a time when I’ve been in this situation in fact. Good grooves and a *Tibs Fav. for sure.
Here’s The GTW’s explanation of “Calling Cards”:
The lyrics speak on a couple spending their last day together before they embark on a long distance relationship. I wrote the lyrics and layed the ‘So So Def’ bass-inspired beat. It’s an ode to one of my favorite Jahit Jamm (Strawberry Jamm Records) tracks, which my bud Mike Perry from Supreme Cuts introduced me to a while ago.
