Kendrick Lamar “Alright”

Shot in the Bay, masterfully by Collin Tilley in black and white, and a powerful mini-movie from Kendrick Lamar for “Alright”.

There’s some strong statements in this one on police brutality, along with an ending I didn’t see coming either. It’s super dope overall and some of these cinematic shots of San Francisco really drive home the scale of this video. And you’ll see how it progresses in general from that opening shot of the city. TDE cameos too so enjoy!

Kendrick Lamar “Alright” (BTS)

Kendrick was out in Oakland this Memorial Day Weekend, showing love to the Bay but also shooting the new video for “Alright”. Look for he and the homies to appear on your screen soon, but for now, here’s a flurry of behind the scenes photos and clips.

Kendrick Lamar reveals TPAB subtitle

As part of his cover story with Mass Appeal, Kendrick Lamar revealed a fun little tidbit — more to the album title on the inside of the booklet to To Pimp A Butterfly.

“[There]’s actually a sketch of braille that’s added to the title hidden inside the [CD] booklet that I don’t think nobody has caught yet,” Kendrick said. “You can actually feel the bump lines. But if you can see it, which is the irony of it, you can break down the actual full title of the album.”

Alison Hawes, MS—a teacher of the visually impaired (TVI)— said to Complex that Kendrick used uncontracted Braille, the most basic form of the writing system, in his message. The direct translation is ”A Kendrick By Letter Blank Lamar.” If you rearrange the subtitle, it can be read: A Blank Letter by Kendrick Lamar.

This is now 2 for 2 for Kendrick as the subtitle for his first album was: good kid, m.A.A.d city: Short Film by Kendrick Lamar.

Pretty interesting and among the interesting read over at Mass Appeal here.

Kendrick Lamar Twitter Q&A

Earlier today, Kendrick Lamar did an impromptu Twitter Q&A, which was largely unexpected considering he rarely uses the social platform. Here are a few of the highlights, including his favorite track on the album and his favorite artist right now (this one may surprise you…)
