Respect to Trey Songz for this song that tackles a concept I’ve been longing to hear in R&B: putting your selfish needs aside and truly wanting the best for someone who may leave (for reasons unrelated to the relationship… job/family/location, etc.) “What’s Best For You” is a midtempo song that does just that and consequently, is another stellar preview off the upcoming album, Trigga. I feel like this is a common situation that the fellas have gone through and now here’s that song to relate to.
ICYMI: The tracklist and features for Trigga revealed earlier today. The album drops July 1st.
With Trey Songz‘ new album, Trigga, less than a month away, more details emerge with the newly revealed tracklist and features. Justin Bieber, Juicy J, Ty Dolla $ign and Mila J will all appear on the singer’s summer album that already has one standout track IMHO, “Change Your Mind“.
UPDATE: Nicki Minaj, too! As Trey says in this entertaining Hot97 interview.
Two new previews of Trey Songz‘ upcoming album, Trigga, as “Foreign” is up first and follows the snippet in the new “Smart Phones” video ICYMI this weekend. It’s a catchy record with some different flows and melodies than earlier in Trey’s catalogue. It’s not at the top tier of songs from Trey Songz, but it’s a solid one, produced by Soundz, that may grow on you (and me).
Down below is “Change Your Mind” — a more traditional, contemporary R&B track from Trey where he persuasively sings to his lady to give him a chance. There are subtle lyrics that are unique to help stand this song apart in case you feel it overlaps in concept. To me, along with Trey’s catchy, piercing vocals, it’s an instant add to the rotation, a *Tibs Fav., and my favorite preview thus far of Trigga. Highly suggest this one.
Song since removed.
Trey Songz follows up today’s guest spot on 50 Cent’s new single, produced by Dr. Dre, with a solo release of his own. This is the next single off Trigga, the new album, and it finds Trey slowin’ it down for the ladies. Sounds like he’s back to his roots and balancing that club vs. R&B line once again. I rocks with this one on first impression.
You knew it was comin’ — Trey Songz officially announces his new album, Trigga, tentatively scheduled for a June 30th summer release. It’s been since 2012 for a new Trey Songz album as Trigga would mark his sixth studio effort. The DJ Mustard-produced “Nana” and “Ordinary” featuring Young Jeezy are the two tracks currently slated for the album. Don’t sleep on Trigga’s hot new remixes too below.
