iHeartRadio Performances

Tonight, the iHeartRadio Awards was the talk of social media as all the biggest stars took to the nationally broadcast stage on NBC. Above, Kendrick Lamar performs “California Love” as tribute to 2Pac and mentor, Dr. Dre. What do you guys think of that? If anything, he’s the one that can do it in today’s game and I thought it was fresh.

Below, Pharrell performs a medley of “Come Get It Bae”, “Happy”, “Blurred Lines”, and “Get Lucky” after winning the Innovator of the Year Award (getting emotional as Gwen Stefani presented).

Also, Usher helped usher in Michael Jackson’s new posthumous single “Love Never Felt So Good” with a quick, smooth little dance number complete with classic MJ moves. The single is available now tonight and features Justin Timberlake.

Rounding it out is the young starlet Ariana Grande with a dual performance of her two big singles “The Way” and “Problem”.

Usher “Good Kisser” [Teaser]

Since Usher is a transformative singer/dancer of my generation, I’m always going to keep an eye and ear on next album after next album. This 2014 new album is set to come after 2 long years away from the spotlight so this teaser of “Good Kisser” is already refreshing because of the amount of time since we’ve last seen him.

Good thing the song and video is cool enough to stand on its own no matter the amount of time away. It’s only 40 seconds, yes, but the song is already catchy — probably made moreso by Usher breaking out his classic slide in all white shoes and all navy blue everything else. Looking forward to the single/video dropping in full, sooner than later.

Mariah Carey, Usher & More for “Today” Show

Every year, the “Today Show” announces their line-up for their annual summer concert series. Last year, the series was kicked off by  the legendary Mariah Carey & this year, it will be kicked off by none other than Ms. Carey once again.

The diva is set to perform new material off of her upcoming LP, which is to drop sometime next month. The LP’s cover, track listing & title has yet to be revealed.

Mariah will kick off the concert series May 16 while Usher will close the series with a huge performance September 5. Two legendary artists in R&B!

Also, in the line-up is Ariana Grande (August 29), Maroon 5 (September 1), Pharrell (June 5) & Jennifer Hudson (July 29).

Sounds like a star studded line-up!

Pharrell + guests LIVE @ Coachella

For Pharrell‘s second performance at Coachella (following up last weekend’s), he brought out even more A-list guests. Jay Z, Usher, Busta Rhymes, Pusha T and T.I. all performed their respective hits with Skateboard P and the fan footage of all is above (Jay Z on stage for 8 minutes) and below (“U Don’t Have To Call” is one of my favorite Usher grooves, and “Grindin'”… what else do I need to say?)

Usher & Da Internz in the studio

Kosine posted the picture above on his Instagram late last night, revealing the next big pop superstar the Chicago duo is in the studio with. This also further confirms Usher’s return with an album in 2014 and I suspect the final product of this will be on the club banger side. But hey, you never know… maybe it’ll be a unique R&B jam akin to John Legend’s “Made To Love” (also produced by Da Internz).

Usher hints at new music in 2014

You guys have probably been following me on Instagram so you see my Afro and my six-pack. So I’m getting out of Sugar Ray Leonard mode and into Usher Ray mode.

– Usher

Usher talked with MTV (alongside Scooter Braun) at the premiere of Justin Bieber’s new Believe documentary this weekend and hinted at some new music for the top of 2014. He’s been filming his role as Sugar Ray Leonard lately, but sounds like he’s been making time for the studio. Hopefully we get a nice mix of club hits and lyrically unique slow jams (mainly the latter though).
